Tractor Bumpers made in the UK

The TRACTOR SHIELD™ safety bumper is designed to help increase the safety of agricultural machines for all road users. Although it is not currently a legal requirement, this type of safety aid is widely used in Europe.  The aim is that the TRACTOR SHIELD™ helps protect oncoming traffic and the tractor operator. Tractors are becoming larger, faster and travelling longer distances. They are also being used for a multitude of purposes that involves road use. Road safety is becoming increasingly important as a result.

Conventional tractors by design have two headlights in the front of the bonnet, close together with small cab side marker lights which are narrower than the tractor wheels. This means that they do not provide a true representation of the width of the tractor. For other road users it can be difficult to see the full width of the oncoming tractor at night and at times of poor visibility. The TRACTOR SHIELD™ clearly highlights the full width of the machine with the use of outer reflective chevron markers, LED daytime running lights and  amber flashing strobes. These help other road users judge the width of the oncoming tractor earlier and pass with greater confidence.

If a front collision occurs between a car and a tractor, in most cases the car will go beneath the tractor wheels and bonnet, crushing the windscreen and roof of the car (under run). The TRACTOR SHIELD™ will help to prevent this, by shielding the front wheels and bonnet with the impact hitting the front of the car bumper. This will activate the car safety features such as air bags and impact zones. If a side collision occurs it will act in the same capacity, but with the streamlined shape of the TRACTOR SHIELD™ it will help to deflect a car preventing under run. This is not only for collisions with cars but will help with all road users, such as cyclists and pedestrians.

TRACTOR SHIELD™ also includes useful storage and tool boxes that have been built into the bumper.
